CAMP KNO-KOMA
Position Title: Counselor
Stipend: $275.00, from which taxes will be deducted.
Responsible to: Head Counselor and Board of Directors
Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must have previous camp experience, have close ties to
someone with diabetes, or be currently enrolled in, or
planning to enroll in, a health care profession that will
involve the care of children with diabetes.
- Must be of good character.
- Must be able to relate to ones peers as well as
children.
- Must exhibit flexibility along with the ability to accept
supervision.
General responsibility: To live with and guide a
specified group of campers throughout their camp experience.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Live in cabin with assigned group of campers.
- Assume responsibility for leadership and guidance to
those campers in daily living, with special attention to:
personal hygiene and safety, camper participation in ALL
camp activities, camper participation in planning cabin
activities, meal time behavior, and habits.
- Assume responsibility as assistant activity specialist in
an assigned activity area.
- Assume responsibility for interpreting the rules,
policies, and traditions of the camp to the camper.
- Serve as a good example in personal language, appearance,
and health habits.
- Assume responsibility for health and welfare of campers
entrusted to his/her charge.
Essential Functions:
- Be physically able to accompany the campers to any of the
camp activities.
- Be able to communicate verbally with campers, and provide
instructions.
- Have visual ability to recognize hazards in the camp
setting and the auditory ability to respond appropriately
to those hazards.
- Be able to observe camper behavior in daily camp life, to
respond to health and safety concerns, and to deal
appropriately with improper behavior.
- Other assigned duties as required.
